French-based artificial intelligence-based, modelling and simulation provider, MASA Group has delivered a completely customised version of its wargame with automated forces, SWORD, to the Bangladesh Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC), in order to equip its Computerised War-Game Centre (CWGC). The simulation has been adapted to reflect specific requirements including the Army’s doctrine, equipment and supplies as well as its ooperational terrain.
The ARTDOC has chosen to employ SWORD for command post training from the battalion to the division level. The software enables the Army to immerse its training audience in different types of military and civil emergency scenarios. SWORD can simulate and control tens of thousands of soldiers and units.
Following last year’s highly successful Operation Blended Warrior (OBW) that took place at the International / Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in Orlando, this year’s repeat exercise featured the MASA SWORD constructive simulation solution participation for the first time.
The first event was successfully demonstrated during I/ITSEC 2015 and included 31 industry and government participants that were networked across twenty-two booths on the exhibit floor. In addition to working through connectivity and interoperability issues, OBW 2015 raised awareness regarding standards, after-action review, and the impact of cyber warfare. This year’s event involved 50 industry, military and academic players with 90 different systems integrated over a distributed network.
MASA has developed a new version of its SWORD constructive command and staff training system, which was unveiled at the 2016 Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) held in Orlando.
The levels of command have been expanded and the system now has a modular architecture. SWORD was previously designed for training at formation (division and brigade) headquarters (HQ) level, but this has now been extended to battalion HQ level, although the core software remains the same. The system is now offered in three main configurations – formation level, battalion level, and public safety – in a « Build your own SWORD » framework with additional options.
November 28 2016, Paris, France: Constructive simulation specialist, MASA, is now offering an Artificial Intelligence (AI) software solution known as Direct AI (DAI). DAI has been developed as an internal research & development (IR&D) project over the past 15 years and forms the backbone of MASA’s highly successful SWORD automated aggregated constructive training product.
AI can be described as a flexible and rational agent that recognises its environment and responds to stimuli accordingly. DAI is an integrated development environment that provides a high-level structured AI modeling language to specify the decision process of this agent. Through DAI users can specify strong adaptive behaviours which can be combined to implement higher level behaviours. Compromised actions make agents able to reach several objectives at the same time and to face unplanned situations.
November 24 2016, Paris, France: Ahead of I/ITSEC 2016, MASA Group is announcing that it is growing the offering of its flagship product, SWORD. In a year where MASA both celebrates its 20th anniversary and welcomes a new CEO, the company has introduced a number of modular options to SWORD as well as significant technological improvements that provide tailored packages to address a greater range of customer requirements and budgets.
Under the direction of the new CEO, David Chouraqui, MASA has implemented a new global strategy to broaden the scope and operation of SWORD, MASA’s constructive simulation for command post training. Until now, SWORD was designed for use at divisional and brigade levels, but this has now been extended so that battalion level command posts can also train using SWORDS’ intuitive and cutting edge technology.
