This week, we are proud to announce a brand new version of SWORD, the v6.4.
The biggest new feature concerns the dynamic communication model: from now on, there is a new optional communication model available that can be activated in the exercise properties in preparation.
When activated, communication leaders (either automata or knowledge subgroups) must be defined for each knowledge group and transmitters can now be defined in adaptation. These transmitters can be added to the equipment of units and have a maximum range that can be affected by the weather, terrain and urban areas.
During the play phase, transmission range checks will be made, between automata HQs and the HQs of the leaders of their knowledge groups and between the HQs of communication leaders.
Should a range check fail, then the knowledge sharing would be interrupted in this direction.
MASA presents the third issue of its semestrial newsletter: INTELLIGENCE
In this edition, you will learn more on the SOULT program deployed in the French Army thanks to an interview with its Program Manager, discover the latest capabilities and features of SWORD v6.3 and the new UN group ARISE will be presented.
MASA Group’s attendance at this year’s International, Inter-service Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in Orlando, Florida, from 30 November – 3 December 2015, is noticeable by a series of contract successes over the past 12 months and the release of the latest version of its world-beating SWORD wargame with automated forces.
Paris, France: First deployed in 2006, MASA’s SWORD is now in service in 16 countries across the globe either directly by the armed forces or through defense industry partners and government emergency response bodies. Along with MASA SYNERGY, a high-level decision system dedicated to emergency preparedness and crisis management training and planning, and LIFE, an Artificial Intelligence-based middleware designed to enable the creation of autonomous behaviors for simulations, MASA’s flagship products will be demonstrated at booth #2224 during the I/ITSEC show.
The latest version of MASA Group’s automated wargame solution for training or decision-support, MASA SWORD, will be unveiled at ITEC 2015. The company’s reputation for providing cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based technology is further boosted by new customers in both the defense and the civil security sector.
With customers in 15 countries around the world, SWORD is rightly recognized as the world’s leading wargame with automated forces. The company has recently taken this capability a step further with the release of SWORD version 6.0. The range of new features included in this latest version is the result of a strong internal Research and Development effort that has been driven by a particularly close relationship with MASA’s growing customer base. SWORD v6 will be showcased for the first time at the ITEC exhibition and conference in Prague from 28-30 April 2015.
MASA is releasing the 10th minor version of MASA LIFE with, once again, a focus on VBS integration.
Improved animation control
The main feature of this release is a vastly improved character controller for VBS units. Thanks to our close collaboration with the Bohemia Simulation team we have managed to get smoother character animation and better control of the speed of movement. In practice, this improved control allows:
soldiers to walk, run and sprint;
animation blending between speeds to be handled properly;
behaviors to specify which speed to use, the controller being able to automatically decrease the speed whenever needed (sharp turns, collision avoidance, …).
In upcoming releases we’ll further refine this control for improved handling of strafing. This 1.10 release is also the last preliminary release on our path to release a reusable military infantry behavior content library !
